Steinn Sigurdsson has claimed that SCOAP3 has something to do with my article not being allowed into astro-ph. Here I present some information from SCOAP3 which makes that sound rather unlikely, to say the least.

First, from the SCOAP3 FAQ (expand no. 8 to see the text):

Articles that are submitted by their authors to arXiv.org with a primary category in high-energy physics (hep-ex, hep-lat, hep-ph, hep-th) ahead of the journal publication are considered eligible for SCOAP3 funding. Please note that arXiv moderators have the right to review and change categorization if it is deemed not correct. arXiv.org is a fully independent service by Cornell University, and neither CERN nor the SCOAP3 collaboration can challenge the decision of arXiv moderators regarding a possible reclassification of an article.
Emphasis is mine. I take that to mean that SCOAP3 has no say at all in arXiv classification. I won't change that opinion unless someone publicly states that it is incorrect and provides a source for their claim and convinces me that it is more valid than the source mentioned above.

Second, in any case, as one can see at no. 7 in the FAQ, MNRAS is not a journal covered by SCOAP3 at all, and neither does my paper have anything to do with high-energy physics.
